Other Data Files

Data for a specific record type can be imported directly into records of that type from a delimited text file (comma-separated, tab-separated etc.). If the data corresponds with an existing record type, the fields in the input file can be mapped to the fields in the record. If there is no suitable existing record type, a new record type will need to be defined (see Adminstrator Functions).

The delimited file import function can be accessed from the Import file link on the My Heurist page, which opens the following page:

       

At this time (Jan 2009) this function is only available to Adminstrators as it is all too easy to make a mess of importing large amounts of data, particualrly if the structure of the data is not well aligned with the record type definition. If you wish to import data, please contact [email protected] and we will arrange to import the data for you.

We are also able to develop scripts which will import from other file formats into new or existing record types. Please email us with details of your requirements and contact details.
