This photograph of Baden Bloomfield, taken in Alice Springs in December 1923, is held at the Alice Springs Public Library. Baden, who was reputedly the first Aboriginal person to own property in the Centre (oral communication), was the eldest child of Jessie, (referred to in the text as Allan Breaden's 'halfcaste spouse'). Jessie, also Johnson Breaden's mother, had a number of children with both Aboriginal and white men. She lived at various times with the prominent pastoralists Louis Bloomfield and Allan Breaden.
