Workgroups

What are Workgroups?

A workgroup is any group of people who need to share resources. Workgroups will typically be departments, research units, project groups or discipline groups.

Requesting a New Workgroup

If you would like to create a workgroup, or become a member of an existing workgroup (see list) please email the following information to the system administrator. Creation of a workgroup will normally occur within 24 hours.

* Workgroup short name (up to 20 characters)

* Workgroup full name (up to 80 characters)

* Workgroup description (a couple of hundred words). This will appear as a description of the workgroup on the workgroup homepage

* Your name and email, and that of anyone else to be made an administrator

* Optional: names of other people you would like to be members - they will need to register as Heurist users before they can be made members.

The workgroup functions and capacities in Heurist are as follows:

Create and manage workgroups (admins) and colleague groups (individual users)
Define shared keywords for each workgroup, usable only by members of the workgroup
Use shared keywords to create controlled lists of resources for publication in web sites
Save search parameters as named searches visible to all members of workgroup
Create workgroup-owned records, protect from modification or hide from non-members
Workgroup home page provides workgroup-specific information and resources
Override record type definitions for specific user groups, add/delete/rename fields
Display subset of record types for a specific group of users, cumulate groups
