Collaboration (Share Content)

Collaboration through workgroups and sharing of records and searches is a key function of Heurist. The basic units of collaboration are individual users, Workgroups and Colleague groups:

Workgroups

Workgroups are defined by adminstrators. A workgroup adminstrator can add memebers to the workgroup(s) of which they are an administrator but cannot create a new workgroup.

Records can be restricted to ownership by a workgroup, and may be visible only to memebers of that workgroup or editable only by the workgroup members but visible to all.

Colleague Groups

Any user can define their own colleague groups (Manage Colleagues entry in the My Heurist menu). This is a useful way of defining groups of people - such as people with shared interests - to whom you might wish to send a notification email, or whose ratings you might like to use to sort search results (see Advanced Search).

Heurist enables its users to share useful, interesting or relevant resources with each other.

  1. Heurist enables its users to refer to their own resources with terminology meaningful to the researcher through personalised tagging and to refer others to resources through notification.

  1. Workgroups tags can be created and shared by the members of the Workgroup.

  1. Updated information from Domain profiles are also a means for Heurist users to benefit from the resources gathered and tagged by other users.

A Heurist user can trigger or set up (for regular notice) notifications to advise colleagues and Workgroup co-members of resources available in Heurist.

As a means of building up relevant research resources for researchers to begin to utilise and to share and work with their colleagues appropriate to their collaborative work practices Heurist supports research communities by providing Domain Profiles and Workgroups

A means of organising sharing research resources with others is to use the Colleague Group function.  An informal means of discerning potential colleagues, or learning from colleagues using Heurist is to use the Find Similar Users function.
