There are several ways of adding data to your Heurist collection (My Bookmarks)
If you're lucky, the information has already been entered by someone else. This will be the case for many popular websites or key bibliographic resources (journals, <fundamental> books etc.). In that case, all you need to do is bookmark the record and add your own tags, ratings and notes. Records can be bookmarked by checking the checkbox left of them in search results and clicking Bookmark.
When importing (below) Heurist also tries to identify similar records which already exist in the database (a process known as disambiguation) and gives you the option of bookmarking one of these rather than making a new record.
Import Your Browser Bookmarks
All browsers can save their bookmarks as an HTML file (generally bookmarks.html). This file can be imported with the web links harvester.
The toolbar and bookmarklet both allow you to capture URLs from a web page. Click on Get web links in either, choose the ones you want, and they are added as bookmarks in your collection (My Records). This function is particualrly useful for harvesting a set of resources discovered by a web search such as Google.
Import Bibliographic Data
Heurist will import existing bibliographic data from EndNote or any bibliographic program which can write EndNote or Refer formats (most will). Other import formats can be developed on request.
Synchronise With Zotero
If you use the Zotero bibliographic tool, you can import your Zotero bookmarks into Heurist, and update them at any time with the Zotero synchroniser built into the toolbar (like the toolbar, Zotero only runs in Firefox).
Import GIS Data (KML)
KML is now a major standard for vector GIS data exchange.
Import Dther Data Types (text files)
Other types of data may be imported, e.g. in XML
Add Records Manually
If all else fails, use the Add Record function to add records one at a time and enter data in the data editing form.
